275KM over 4Days through 8 interlinking eco-systems in one world heritage site, moving at 17KM/H on my LAPIERRE steed, iSimangaliso Mountain Bike race was…LONG…WINDY…SANDY…MUDDY…FUN???

So with a couple three day events under my belt, I thought it time to step it up a notch. 4 days of riding, could my body handle it? I’d heard it’s an amazing must do ride. Big 5 game, challenging sand, sea to mountains scenery, something you don’t want to miss.

Hmmmmm, we had…Day one – 20KM of MUD, Day two – mile after mile of energy sapping head wind and soft beach sand, Day three – rain, mud and more bike swallowing soft sand, Day four – 20KM of rocky mountain climbing.
Was if fun? Not really. I find single track to be fun, downhills to be fun and smooth flowing trails FUN.
This was an experience. One I regret, NO! One I would do again, No. Would I recommend you do it, Yes. I think it’s one of those rides you do once for the experience and then make up your own mind as to how you feel.

As a whole, I did enjoy it. I rode with my Brother, I rode with mates, I met new people, I explored new places, I got to ride areas normally inaccessible and the weather, besides some drizzle on day three, was excellent.
